Folder 1, Topic 2: Students can not see unit after they log in

Question

 

I have had newly-enrolled students complaining that they can't see my unit on WebCT/Blackboard as yet. Why is that?

 

 

Answer

 

These students may not have been added to VUSIS yet. Stragglers are first processed by VUSIS, then automatically swept into the WebCT/Blackboard databases each day at 6am.

 

In peak load times  (such as start of semester) it can take up to 48 hours to process stragglers. We can't accelerate or bypass this process if VUSIS believes that a student doesn't exist, so everything depends on the existence of the student record on VUSIS.

 

I suggest that the aggrieved students wait for a day or so, and if they still have not appeared in their correct unit databases (allowing them to access their units) they should contact the ITS Helpdesk on x2777 to investigate the reasons for this and to correct the situation.

 

If they need to access the unit urgently, check Folder 2: Getting Staff & Students into WebCT/Blackboard: Topic 1 for instructions on how to manually override the automatic system.
