Folder 3, Topic 1: My enrolled students seem to be missing from the Gradebook

Question

I can't find my students in the Gradebook - I know they are enrolled - where are they?

Answer

If they are definitely enrolled, this may be caused by the Gradebook  view that you are using. At the bottom right of the Gradebook  page is a drop-down menu box (1) that lets you select how many students to display on the page. The one shown below is set to let you see 100 students; you would need to select 101-200 from the drop-down box to see the next 100 students. N.B. It's not enough to select the page range - you must then click on the green arrow > next to the box!

The default setting is usually 20 students per page, so in a class of, say, 23 students it is easy to overlook that 3 students are 'below the fold', and appear to be 'missing'.

To fix this, just select the obscure little pagination control icon (2) and reset the default number of students on a page to whatever you want. Pick about 50 more than your current number of students and you are unlikely to have this problem again.
