Question

How can I upload files to WebCT with the 'Get Files' tool?

Answer

For up to 10 files at a time you can use the Java applet built in to WebCT.

  • Open the File Manager and navigate to the folder where you want your file to end up.

  • Then click on the rectangular "Get Files" button at the top of your page.

  • In the window that opens, select the 'My Computer' icon at bottom left, browse to the file you wish to transfer and click the 'Open' button (or just double-click on the file name).

  • File Manager now uploads the file to WebCT's File Manager in the folder that was open when you started.
  • If you end up with files in the wrong folders, you can move them to where they need to be.

It is important to understand that the 'Get Files' process just copies files located on your computer into your WebCT unit's File Manager environment.

Those files will not automatically appear on the home page, or anywhere else in WebCT. You, as the Designer, need to create links on those pages where you want students to be able to access materials.
