Folder 5, Topic 3: Making links on the Home page (or other folder pages) to files in File Manager

Question

I have uploaded all the files I need to the File Manager. How do I create icon links on my Home page and Folder pages so students can see them?

Answer

First, you need to be in the 'BUILD' tab. Then, you need to go to the actual page where you want the icon to appear. If your link needs to be on the Home page, start there. If not, click through to the folder where you want the link to appear. Then:

  • Click the rectangular "add file" button at the top left of your page. Select 'Browse for files' from the drop-down menu. This opens the File Manager.

  • Navigate to the file you want and check the selection box next to it. Click "OK"

  • The selected file is added and a default icon appears. If you wish, you can click on the Action Menu button to the right of the icon, select 'Customise link' and replace the default icon with one of your own, change the file name display and add annotations.
