Question
How many questions are necessary to form a bank of questions suitable for learners to undertake quizzes?
Answer
If a quiz is to consist of, say, 10 questions then that is obviously the minimum.
The 'test bank' concept is that you build up lots of questions in a 'bank' and choose items from it when constructing a new quiz. The more questions in the bank, the more variety is possible in quiz construction and the less likely that cheating is possible through students circulating a limited number of questions and their answers.
You can also set WebCT/Blackboard to deliver say,10 questions at random from a large bank of questions. This can be done in conjunction with the ability of WebCT/Blackboard to randomise the order of the distractors in each question. These strategies may be handy to outwit students whose motivation is more strategic than pedagogic and can greatly reduce the chances of creative collaboration by students.
